Westside Kitchen and Living Area Remodel
Breathtaking textures and neutrals highlight the Puget Sound view.
Project objectives:
1. Enhance the functionality of a challenging peninsula configuration
2. Highlight the beauty of the client's unique handcrafted pottery collection
3. Maximize the panoramic vista as a focal point of design
4. Optimize appliance placement for seamless workflow and aesthetic harmony
Revamping this 80s-era kitchen came with its fair share of hurdles. Its outdated oak cabinets and flooring, drenched in yellows and oranges, cast an unsettling hue over the entire space, undermining its potential. A wonky peninsula, courtesy of an awkward wall angle, made everyday tasks feel like navigating a maze. Placing the range in this cramped setup only added to the kitchen chaos, disrupting the flow of cooking and prep work.
Despite a stunning view along the west wall, the previous kitchen layout failed to make the most of it. Instead of enjoying the scenery, you were left scratching your head at the awkward setup. And to top it off, the homeowner had a beautiful collection of handmade pottery that needed a proper display spot.
Our challenge? Finding solutions to these kitchen conundrums that balanced modern practicality with a touch of natural charm. It was about making the space work better for everyday life while also highlighting its surroundings and the homeowner's personal style.
We installed a full-height ceramic tile backsplash complemented by floating shelving, providing a stunning backdrop to showcase the homeowner's pottery collection.
To accentuate the breathtaking view, we opted for neutral finishes and materials throughout the kitchen, allowing the scenery to take center stage.
Rearranging the appliance configuration enabled us to create a more functional work triangle, enhancing efficiency and flow in the kitchen space.
To address the awkward wall that previously hindered movement, we removed it and installed an island featuring a convenient microwave drawer, optimizing both functionality and aesthetics.
A more appropriately placed island improves the flow in the kitchen.
Gorgeous panel-ready cabinetry makes the fridge seamlessly inline.
